Remote Controlled Drill Rigs
FORACO pioneered the deployment of the first wireless remote controlled RC rig with full Measurement While Drilling (MWD) in the Pilbara in late 2015. This rig has since gone on to drill over 150,000m in some quite challenging formations.
We have since developed wireless remote controlled diamond and hydro rigs to add to our fleet of innovative drilling equipment. Our remote rig fleet now stands at nine units, which represents 35% of our total rigs.
The driving force behind our ‘Drill of the Future’ was to separate people from equipment, and to harvest more data from the drill hole. Being able to operate the drill rig from more than 8m away has many significant benefits that enhance safety and reduce fatigue. The Driller is no longer standing on a vibrating operators stand next to ~ 800hp of energy.
Wireless remote controlled drill rigs eliminate the hazards of falling objects, and significantly reduce exposure to noise, heat, vibration and extreme energy sources such as high pressure air (RC rigs) and hydraulics.
